Course objectives: To enable delegates to understand the safety requirements for the  equipment and to instruct the trainee to safely operate various types of Mast Climbing Work Platforms

Who will benefit: Everyone who uses or intend to use Mast Climbing Work Platforms (MCWP), and those responsible for the management of the equipment whilst on site

Course content

  • Awareness of safety responsibilities
  • Accident prevention
  • Pre-use, daily and weekly checks
  • PPE requirements
  • Features, capabilities and limitations of the machine category
  • Safe operation/installation procedure and manoeuvring of the machine category
  • Test paper

No of delegates per session:

Demonstrator – max 6

Operator – max 8

Mobile Operator – max 6

Training methods: Lectures, video, demonstration, practical use

Training modules: Various, dependant on the course, 1-27 in total

Assessment: Will be both theoretical and practical test, with a pass requiring an achievement of at least 80% in each assessment. The assessments from each module will be reviewed with the candidate at the end of training to  allow feedback and comments

Objectives:

At the end of the course the candidate will be:

  • Aware of the relevant local Health and Safety regulations, standards, codes and guidance for the design, supply, use and management of MCWPs
  • Capable of the safe operation of a MCWP
  • Aware of, and able to use, the correct emergency procedures and systems of a MCWP to enable its safe operation in an emergency
  • Capable of carrying out pre-use/daily checks
  • Capable of carrying out weekly inspections
  • Capable of assessing the suitability of ground conditions and correctly setting up the MCWP base

Certification: Successful delegates will receive a Powered Access Licence card with certificate (PAL) and a safety guide and log book relating to the specific IPAF course that the delegates trained on

PPE requirement: Delegates should bring the following PPE with them as standard, safety helmet, boots, gloves and eye protection, and overalls if preferred
