Lyndon SGB by BrandSafway has been shortlisted for two prestigious Construction News CN Specialists Awards – Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor (subcontract over £5m) and Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence. The winners will be announced at a black-tie event on Thursday, 22 September 2022, at The Brewery, London.

The Project of the Year nomination is for Lyndon SGB’s hybrid access solutions on the £330 million partial renovation of the Grade 1-listed ‘Our Town Hall’ project for Lendlease on Manchester City Council’s historic town hall. Lyndon SGB has more than 200 scaffolding structures in place, complex temporary roofing and nine of the 10 construction hoists have been provided by Taylor’s Hoists by Brandsafway (UK).

The Lyndon SGB hybrid access solutions are in situ to give access to all elevations on the Manchester To w n Hall renovation from December 2019 to December 2023 – allowing Lendlease contractors to access 34 chimneys, the three main towers (the main Albert Square clock tower, Cooper St tower and Princess St spire) and the rest of the structure requiring renovation work. It is one of the largest construction projects on-going in Europe.

The shortlist for Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence highlights Lyndon SGB and Taylor’s Hoists’ impeccable record of health and safety in the workplace, including the company’s on-going mental health awareness and training work nationally, which has already netted Lyndon SGB’s Mental Health Manager Ian Hines a National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) President’s Award.

Lyndon SGB Managing Director Stuart Robinson said: “We could not be more proud of the Lyndon SGB and Taylor’s Hoists teams for their incredibly high standards of work, which has helped net not one, but two nominations for these esteemed industry awards, which is very rare indeed. The standard of those shortlisted is phenomenal, so we are aware we are up against the elite of the UK construction scene. But that is something we do nationally, every day. It is a privilege to be shortlisted, not just for our flagship Lyndon SGB #OurTownHall project, but for our superb safety standards, which are at the core of everything we do nationwide.”

Lyndon SGB SHEQ Director Mark Collinson added: “While the amazing ‘Our Town Hall’ project speaks volumes about what we do, safety is our primary concern at Lyndon SGB. This is why we’re especially thrilled to be shortlisted for a CN Specialists Award for Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence.”
